The fabulous beaches of Puerto Peñasco, Mexico
E s all about the beaches and the sea in Puerto Peñasco. Sandy beaches, rocky beaches, beaches for swimming, shelling or just wandering around. There is windsurfing, fishing, sailing, water skiing, and tide pools to explore when low tide. With miles of beaches available extends from northwest to southeast of the city, whatever you want from a beach can be found here.
Note in mind that all beaches in Mexico are, by law, open to the public. Along the beaches of Puerto Peñasco lifeguard is rarely available, so that although water is generally very safe for swimming, take the necessary precautions. The best bath from May to October, since it is generally too cold for swimming during the winter months. And remember, all vehicles are prohibited on the beaches of Puerto Peñasco.
You will find many references to the beaches of the region as "the West "or" this "because of the shape of the earth as it curves away to the south. For example, Playa Encanto Playa La Jolla and could be described as "Playas del Este", while Sandy Beach is a "Western." It seems to me somewhat confused, however, so in case you were confused, too, I will be describing the beaches and go north to south, as ultimately make. To the right is a satellite view of Google Earth showing the general layout land.
I will start this description of the beaches of Puerto Penasco at the northern end of Pelican Beach and head south to Playa San Jorge.
Pelican Beach: From north of the city are the beaches in front of the Laguna Shores Laguna and the evolution of the Sea, located along the curve Cholla Bay. These two events planned to share a pristine estuary which abounds in wildlife - bring your binoculars and camera! (Future plans for this area also includes the Laguna del Sol and the Royal Navy communities.) Some of the most Estero La Cholla (pictured at the top of this post), you are encouraged to help maintain this body of water as pure as it is today. You know: "Take only photographs and a hidden track." Pelican Beach (named for the number of pelicans brown hanging in the area) is located near the bottom edge of the Laguna del Mar is a good place to get clams or crab. This stretch of beautiful beach curves to the southwest until you reach the little jut of land where the community of La Cholla. From the main highway north of town, take the clearly marked turn to go to Laguna Shores / March Lagoon
La Cholla (sometimes written as La Choya): The Cholla is the established foreign-dominated enclave oldest in the area. Set on the edge of a small peninsula that juts like a finger in the Sea of Cortez at the southern end of Cholla Bay and Laguna del Mar, there is little in the way of sandy beaches here. Probably the best is called Tucson Beach. Although small, Tucson Beach offers calm water for wading and swimming when the tide is in. It also offers easy launch and recovery of ships if you happen to be living or rent in the area and has a boat.
This peninsula is often called Pelican Point. Its rocky shores are part of a submerged reef 15 miles, and when the tide goes waaaay out! This is an advantage, however, to any person who love to explore tide pools, and because the prevailing winds onshore and shallow water navigation is excellent for kite. This is also a great place for fishing for red snapper, white fish, grouper, spotted gold and black sea bass! Do not count out.
Sandy Beach (Sandy Beach): On the southern edge of the peninsula La Cholla miles begins sweeping along Sandy Beach. The construction along its edges (Sandy Beach Resorts) is the first thing you see when approaching the city, you can see high-rise condominiums 10-15 miles away. There are plenty of activities available in this beautiful beach area, including swimming, snorkeling, diving, skiing waterskiing, parasailing, jet skiing, surfing, fishing, clams, or just sunbathing. The beach is crescent shaped sand dunes, miles of largely undisturbed flow inwards. At its southern end meets Playa Bonita, and the two areas share many attributes.
Bonita Beach / Hermosa Beach: Playa Bonita / Playa Hermosa sweeps from the bottom of Sandy Beach in a great arc south of Peñasco del Sol, tourist center and is the first main beach area. Technically, an extension of Sandy Beach, this beautiful stretch of beach is loved by both locals and visitors with easy access to most of its length. When very low tide algae, rocks and tide pools are exposed. This provides a perfect time to explore the pools of the weird and wonderful variety of marine creatures that live there. The children of all ages love this, but be careful what you touch.
At the north end of this beach is well established Playa Bonita Laos Mar Hotel. Anchoring the southern end, as already mentioned, is the Peñasco del Sol (formerly Plaza Las Glorias). Within walking distance from the Sun are many shops Crag and restaurants, which makes this a very popular place. In a busy day, anywhere near the parking can be a challenge. This is also where the rocky beach area surrounding most of the city begins.
Mirador Beach: Located at the corner of Malecón of Puerto Viejo, this is the nearest beach the older parts of downtown Rocky Point. Comprised of both sand and rocky beaches, is only about three blocks south of Peñasco del Sol addition to the advantage of an excellent beach and tide, where the group than low tide, this area is home to many areas of the city's favorite night as Manny, Pink Cadillac, Baja Cantina and the pithaya. Spring Break Mirador country, the center of action for a night out for young people each spring. The process to spruce up Mirador area is well advanced, with a mixed-use development planned high level for the zone.
Las Conchas: Las Conchas is a mile long straight-6 section, pristine beautiful beaches with low cliffs and sand dunes punctuate its length. Located along the northwest coast of the Ria de Monia, This beach is sandy and shallow, and can walk very far in many places even when the tide is out. Great for shore fishing and shelling (and watching stars in the night).
La Jolla Beach: Located in the development of the area of Playa del Este, about 15 minutes south of the city Conchas separate car and 'The Beach at the mouth to the estuary of Morúa. Playa La Jolla offers a perfect place to sunbathe, stroll, collect shells and enjoy scenery and serenity. While near the city, it is not unusual to find almost alone in this beautiful beach. The beach is wide, sandy, rocky and free.
Beach Enchantment: Ditto Playa La Jolla, which essentially shares the same beach to La Jolla, and you know what this area is the beach. Both are excellent for the bombing and bring along a bag to store the treasures in.
North Beach: North Beach is a development area has been highly controversial for a decade, and the controversy continues today. You can find more information on real estate debacles there through Google, but for our purposes will only say that the beaches are outstanding. Playa Dorada and Playa Miramar are two of the beaches or the developments in this field.
Playa Dorada: Playa Dorada is almost a minute to 30 in the city. Like most beaches in the area is wide, sandy, and covered with shells - some of them HUGE. If you like deserted beaches and quiet, you can not go wrong with Playa Dorada.
Playa Miramar: Miramar Beach Ditto, just below Playa Dorada and distribution of all attributes of the latter.
Mayan Palace: Located on the Estuary La Pinta, at kilometer 24 along the Cliff - road Caborca (A unit of 30-40 min), the tourism development of massive proportions is about 2 miles of unspoiled beach. Located along the Estuary La Pinta, this place is an ecological refuge for marine creatures and birds and excellent shelling. In the southeastern part of the beach, a mile from the resort, many sea creatures can be found at low tide, along with huge, hand-sized shells. The sand is also ideal for building sand castles.
Beach St George: the other side of the bay of the new Mayan Palace Resort, where the land curves south, is the estuary of San Jorge, with beaches that rival with its neighbor. Although there is some development in the area, if you do it all the way to the beach of St. George that insulation can be sure if that's what you want. Bring your own shade, water and plenty of sunscreen. And do not forget your binoculars (to watch birds and bugs) and the camera. This is what the beaches in question.
And there you have. Enjoy the fabulous beaches of Puerto Peñasco, Mexico!
