Your dream vacation in Crete

Across the Aegean islands there are many to choose your dream vacation, but for many tourists the largest of the Greek islands Crete, still retains unique factors that distinguish it from others. In considering the possibilities of holiday in Crete to choose from a wide selection of luxury hotels and villas.

Secluded coves, spectacular bays, sandy beaches and dramatic landscape backdrops make the island a special place. No wonder that the island has attracted the rich and famous, including celebrities, royalty, world leaders and movie stars and music through the years.

In terms of history of Crete can be classified with the best of the other islands and places in the Aegean. Some of the earliest European settlements of humans from the Minoan age have found in Crete, but for most visitors to the island's main attractions are its climate and holiday options.

The size of the island (almost 250 miles from east to west) provides about 1,000 miles of coastline to enjoy wonderful. The average daytime temperatures rarely drop below 15 degrees Celsius even in winter, and during the months from May to October the temperatures are always warm and pleasant. The rainfall is also low during June, July and August.

Crete is, in Lanzarote in terms of number of visitors, with around 2 million visitors who come to the island each year. Much of the growth in popularity of Crete arrived in late 1980, when the number of visitors increased by 50 percent.

The island's capital, Heraklion, is also the main center transport, providing a port for cruise ship arrivals and an international airport which is now widespread and the need for expansion. The airport is the second busiest in Greece, and handles about 5 million passengers per year. Six years ago the Greek government announced plans for a new airport operation should become 2014. Reading the reviews, few people have a good word to say about the current airport, especially during busy periods, but do not let that discourage you from visiting Crete. Once the hustle and bustle of the airport, this beautiful island, you can enjoy its treasures.

It is a very popular place with a beautiful sandy beach and plenty of umbrellas to shelter under, but can become crowded in high season.

Finally you may be tempted by a visit to the beach of Matala. Despite having one of the best beaches on the island, soft golden sand leading to the beautiful waters for swimming, this place retains some of its original atmosphere relaxed. It is here in the caves near the beach, that German and English hippies made his home during the 1960s. The town is now done most of its attractiveness to tourists. It consists mainly of hotels and rooms hire and is very lively during the summer, so perhaps the best time to go there is to be outside the main season.
