The French Riviera: A Taste of Luxury for Families Too

Behind every great hotel, is a great story, and it will reach the heart of any father always wanted to plan a vacation in a luxury destination with kids in tow. Yes, there are some small European luxury hotels that accept children under 12. But who wants Mr. Lafitte, Signora Rossa or Mr. and Mrs. Smith JP frowning at you scornfully through their martini glass when children ask, "Where's the food?!" just a little too strong. The French Riviera, in particular, is something of a reputation in promoting the concept of luxury and that children are not terms to be used in the same sentence.

Leila Elling had the same problem six years ago, when he traveled throughout Europe with her young children. Any of the places where she wanted to stay, do not accept children or they did reluctantly and unprepared fully for the experience as enjoyable for children as it could be for their parents. A woman of means and ingenuity, Leila Elling finally took matters into their own hands and opened her own luxury resort in the residential enclave of Beauvallon, overlooking the bay of Saint-Tropez. Built between 1911 and 1914, this hotel Belle epoché palace is the only of its kind along the Riviera between Cannes and Marseille.

A typical day at Le Beauvallon might include arriving on helicopter at the helipad fifteen minutes away, refreshed enough to take in a game of golf at the 18-hole Golf Club of Beauvallon. child-sized clubs courses are available, but children may want to relax watching a movie in the hotel's private screening room, complete with Dolby stereo sound envelope, the airplane-like reclining seats, snacks and a cold drink. Maybe then the whole family can meet in the pool, swim, lounge in the seven-meter jacuzzi or relax in your own tent cabin. Lunch in the restaurant of beachfront hotel overlooking the bay of St. Tropez is always prepared and presented with taste and children may choose from the menu "young lovers," selections designed exclusively for them, including a must dessert white chocolate mousse and black.

After lunch, the family might want to take a stroll around the exclusive town of Saint-Tropez to see the yachts slip in and out of port. If so, take the hotel's private boat free boat ride to six minutes of the bay. St. Tropez has something for everyone, boutiques Fashion for mom, and waterfront cafes for Dad, and bowling near Luna Park and miniature golf for children.

When children are ready to shower, they have their own perfectly sized robes, whether they are 10 years and 10 months of age. Need a high chair, bottle warmer, or a porter ... no problem. If tonight is a night where the nurse will be useful in an application, the nannies Leila has been used to meet their own children. Children please pajamas, eating popcorn and watching a movie on the DVD player courtesy, while its leaves curl up with cartoon characters. Will be much more impressed with that element of the decor of soft pastels, bright tones and imaginative Mediterranean colors with touches of Eastern inspired exoticism that first drew the attention of mom and dad when they entered their elegant room and marble bathroom with a view to the sea.

If mom and dad want to stay close, I would suggest Le Beauvallon own world-class restaurant, Les Colonnades. Dining in the restaurant is always possible, but given the Riviera mild climate, you may want to enjoy dinner on the terrace. If it is within walking distance of the children is not a problem, there are a dozen nearby coastal towns to choose from, each more charming and romantic than the other. The spectacular Provencal village of Grimaud is just a taxi ride away.

If you happened to have fallen into a late night, fear not ... breakfast is from 7 to 10 am .. is all day. Enjoy it on your balcony overlooking ten acres of gardens, or curled up in bed with children. They will choose from a wide breakfast menu that includes the election of a special breakfast for children. Mom and Dad can enjoy eggs Benedict, but the kiddies might prefer cornflakes or cocopops with a side of fresh fruit yogurt, topped with hot chocolate or Ovaltine.

As I had the luxury of experiencing Le Beauvallon first hand, along with my husband and children, I have to share with you my favorite of the family aspect of the trip. We were all going so well that hardly counts a detail that was pointed out to me by Leila Elling. "The best thing about a family vacation at Le Beauvallon," he said, "is that there are 'mini club' makes special moments together. "None of us was lost" organized "activities.
